Ben Tianavaig was built at the beginning of the last century and is named after the mountain on the other side of Loch Portree. The name is a mixture of Gaelic (ben) and Norse (vaig) meaning “harbour at the foot of the hill”.

We provide a good selection on our breakfast menu to cater for guests who like a hearty cooked breakfast (well, you need to keep your strength up for all that walking!) or you can opt for a lighter breakfast with fruit, the poached plums in vanilla syrup have had good reviews. We use free-range eggs and local produce (some from our garden), organic where this is possible.

We aim to cater for all dietary requirements and offer a vegetarian option as well as dairy and gluten free menus, if required. Please let us know in advance if you have special dietary needs so we can make sure we have the foods you want.

We are informal and like our guests to feel at home so we don’t have many “terms & conditions”.

We have wi-fi access on request.

We are fortunate to have off-road parking opposite the house for up to 3 cars. This operates on a first-come first served basis. As we have 4 guest rooms we can’t guarantee everyone will be able to use our parking if there are 4 cars. (Parking is at your own risk and we can accept no liability for damage to cars using our parking). Because we are so central to the town there is also on-street parking (6.00p.m.- 8.00a.m.) and a couple of car parks a few minutes walk from the house.
